ABOUT
The Maker

Eva Burton is a maker living and working in the Basque Country in the cozy city of Bilbao. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she studied Art Restoration at the University of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. In 2010 she moved to Barcelona, and in 2014 she finished her studies in Artistic Jewellery at Escola Massana. In 2018 she completed a Master of Fine Arts specializing in Contemporary Jewellery and Stone Carving at the Trier University of Applied Sciences in Idar-Oberstein, Germany.

Over the years, her work has been exhibited internationally and published in specialized books, as well has participated in collaborations and collective projects to interconnect diverse cultures and aesthetic disciplines. Eva does not stick to a single typology of objects: she is always seeking new ways of expression, and playing is a fundamental aspect of her life and artistic creations.

Statement

I take great pleasure in transforming my experiences into metaphors, adding a romantic –sometimes ironic- view to those slight details that occur in our daily lives.
The mixture is what fills me. I want to find the connections between the opposites and make them engage in a dialogue. Make them dance, grow apart, get close, and play. My pieces resemble a magic potion combining various elements from diverse harbors and corners. They are collages, assemblages through which I intend to reflect my world.
My way of composing is seated on playful, instinctual bases. I go around smelling the colors of a homely landscape, seeking that “welcome home” feeling, my Playground, that liminal space where everything is possible.
Reversal and inversion, exaggeration, paradox, playing with boundaries, playing with meanings, playing with infinity, playing with space, playing with time... This is what a Human does... This is the Homo Ludens.
Handmade is the New Black

Every single piece of jewelry is handcrafted in Eva Burton's studio, Flashera Lab, located in Bilbao, Spain. From the idea to the craftmanship until the final jewel, Eva Burton brings an artisanal way of working with a contemporary approach. Creating unique pieces and limited and ongoing edition jewels she aims to spread through the world her portable messages, pieces of jewelry that irradiate a positive feeling, which will wrap you with Rainbow vibes.
Each piece of jewelry mirrors the process of an object made entirely by hand. By choosing to purchase artisan work, you are supporting a craft and design community, and not only that: it is one of the keys that will open the door to change in the consumerism society. Handmade is the perfect match and will add that special touch to every outfit. No lipstick needed: Handmade is the new black! Oh Yeah
